weeks in the fridge.

And I can ditto on adding wood glue, most weat paste wont stick to metal or wood very well. The ghetto mix I make of waterproof wood glue and school glue thinned with water works great on wood.

hey guys, i followed the instructions step by step in the first post, same amount water, flour etc, but the wheatpaste isnt very sticky. it does stick, but if you touch it wrong it already comes off. is there something i could do about it, or was i just unlucky with the underground? i used it on wood, concrete & metal.

is there anybody with the same experiences who knows how to solve them?

Personally, I don't think the recipe in the first post has enough flour. I make mine fairly thick, and do it mostly by eye. I would say that I add water to flour at about 1.5 to 1, maybe 2 to 1. I mostly just look for a runny porridge/pancake batter type consistency... In my experience if you put a blob on a flat surface it should stay together and not run, but it should slowly spread out.

I have never really had a problem with posters not sticking to anything, and I would actually say that metal/painted metal is one of the easier things to paste to because it doesn't absorb any paste so you spend less time spreading it on. Also, if you use a thin enough paper it never comes off in very large pieces so its tough to remove.

Also, if you have an immersion blender its pretty much the best thing ever for getting out lumps.

i need some adive, beacuse im only using a normal printer to print my posters they run and fade in the rain.
i was thinking that spraying hair spray on the posters b4 i put them up might put a seal on it, or i was going to mix a 50 50 paste and glue to mae a sealed layer.
what do you guys think??

I have a pasting mix i designed specificically for bubblejet paper, you will smear it lightly when you put it up and they will fade away in a few (say 3 or 4 ) months.

Take two bottles of childrens school glue and add to it about 2-3 ounces of waterproof carpenters wood glue. (i use elmers brand for both.)

Thin it down with 1/2 of a glue bottle full of cold water, and stir
depending on how thick you want it eep adding water until it is right.

It sticks very well to wood unlike other wheat pastes, you can even use it on phone poles. And its cheap as hell to make.

Good luck and enjoy.

Dont tape it together it makes it easier for cunts to rip it down. Put the paper together to the size of your stencil, you could even lightly adhesive it to a sheet of wood or something to get it all in line. Spray your stencil on it and then take the paper appart and it will be in sections. When you are out pasting just line up all the sections together.

Gloves... i like your style man your a bamf.

but i remember when i was in school they had long thick ass roles of paper like 5 feet long that you could just pull the amount u needed and cut it off.
idk if there is a place to pick some of that shit up,, but that would be perfect....

im kinda dislike doing the poster in sections.. but i will prob stick it out....

Size doesn't matter (in this case) if you use enough amounts of wheatpaste you could do big posters ofcourse wink.gif

I'll chalk that last comment up to a language barrier issue.....

Deagle, all the info is here, you should just try it out and if you have problems post and see what you might have done wrong.

Thin paper is best.... you can indeed tape it together from the back using paper backed tape, such as very cheap masking tape, that will paste up. The thinner the paper the better.

The rest is up to you, it will indeed bleed through if its the right paper, it is THIN. Try it.

i went to the local newspaper headquarters and asked them if i could have the endroll (after a certain length on their huge rolls of paper they can't print on it anymore and they just pile them up and then throw them away.) I said that I was doing an art project in school and they brought me down into the warehouse where they produce all the newspapers which was pretty cool and gave me a huge roll that was around 40 inches wide.

also quick question that I haven't seen answered.

if i'm do a wheatpaste on a piece of foamcore or something will it smell at any point? During the making? applying? after it dries? Thanks

Learn Lose Love
I have been using Wheatpaste in alot of projects in the past years and would like to share my techniques. love um Hate um Use um

I have tried cooking wheat paste many different ways, the most useful is not cooking it at all. I will share my mix wink.gif

5 Quart Bucket

Fill it half way with hot water

Golden Harvest

Pour 80% of the powder in the water and mix well.

Titebond Wood Glue [blue] 16-Ounces

Mix half the bottle

Polycrylic Gloss, 946ml

Pour the half in mix well

Mix really well[b]

The best brush to use is a janitors broom. Use Soft brushes for less rips.

Harper Brush 9 In. Smooth Surface Indoor Broom

[b]**Use the thinnest paper possible. Harder to come off [newsprint is the best]**

Now use your fav stencil Or......

Print your fav image on 8x10in paper and goto your local kinkos and use the over size paper printer

POST AWAY.....

Hope you enjoyed..
