While there have been many symbols for peace over the centuries, the one we all know today is the famous circle containing the vertical line running down the center and the inverted “v” shape at the bottom. This sign was created by Gerald Holtom in the 1950s to be used as the logo for the British Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. The inverted “v” stands for the letter “N” and the line down the middle stands for the letter “D,” which together stand for nuclear disarmament.

Since the peace sign holds so much significance for those of us who have lived through the 20th century and into the 21st, we have created our Peace sign stencil, which depicts the classic peace sign Holtom created. This is a great stencil to use in so many different ways. You can create signs and posters to use at a peace rally. You can paint it onto t-shirts with fabric paint. You can stencil a huge peace sign onto a concrete wall or a store window. There are no limits!

The flexibility of the Peace sign stencil is due in part to the fact you can paint it anywhere. All you need is the right paint for the surface material and you can paint the symbol on walls, glass, paper, fabric, wood, metal, or plastic. And since the mylar stencil is food-grade, you can even ice a cake with this design. The other half of the flexibility of this stencil is the range of sizes in which we offer it, which includes:

  • 6” x 6”
  • 8” x 8”
  • 12” x 12”
  • 15” x 15”
  • 20” x 20”
  • 25” x 25”
  • 30” x 30”
  • 35” x 35”

So, get your peace stencil, choose your color and paint, and secure the stencil to the surface. Then all you need to do is apply the paint with a spray, roller, or brush and enjoy your creation. When you're finished, remove the stencil carefully, wash it, and tuck it away until you or someone you know needs it again.
